Colm Mac Con Iomaire plays violin, keyboard and sings with Irish band The Frames. He has also written many solo pieces and regularly performs solo at Frames concerts and occasionally his own shows. Colm and band founder Glen Hansard are the two remaining original members of The Frames.


Colm attended Irish language secondary school, Colaiste Eoin, in Dublin, Ireland. where he co-formed the band Kila with friends in 1987. He left Kila in 1991 to join The Frames. [[1]]


In 1991 he appeared as a Fiddler Auditioner in the Alan Parker film “The Commitments”. [2]


In January 2003’s Hot Press 2002 Readers Poll Colm was voted No.2 in the Best Musician category. [3]


In 2006 he recorded a cover of the Britney Spears’ song “Everytime” with Glen Hansard on Dublin radio station “Today FM” which was included on the charity CD “Even better than the real thing Volume 2”.


Colm has collaborated with many other artists including performing on the Oxfam Ireland 2006 album “The Cake Sale”.
